Guest Blogging
Definition
Guest blogging is when a blog is written by a writer who does not typically contribute to the website the blog is published in. Guest blogging is a traffic generating tactic because it allows writers of different websites to attract each others' audiences.
When guest blogs are submitted and published, it is common for the parties involved (the website owner and the writer) to promote the blog post to their respective audiences. By promoting the same blog post to different social media audiences and email lists, each participant in the exchange gets more benefits than they could have achieved on their own.
Guest blogs often include a short biography of the writer, as well as a link back to the writer's site. It is courtesy to make that link a ""do-follow"" link so that it contributes to the writer's performance in search engines, but some websites and publications prefer to avoid links or use nofollow links as a sitewide policy.
